Vision

Building towards a more connected housing treasury environment.

Our vision is for housing treasury information, tools and processes to become easier to connect, understand and use.

Housing associations manage treasury across a range of interconnected areas: cash, borrowing, facilities, interest rates, security, covenants, refinancing, investments and reporting. These areas influence one another, but the information supporting them can often sit across different systems, spreadsheets and processes.

Housing Treasury Services intends to develop practical ways of bringing that information together so treasury teams can see relationships more clearly, reduce unnecessary fragmentation and make better-informed decisions.

Housing Treasury

Housing Treasury is the developing platform and connected treasury environment through which Housing Treasury Services intends to bring together its reporting, information, tools and broader treasury capabilities.

The intention is not simply to create another collection of isolated tools. The longer-term aim is to develop an environment in which relevant treasury information can work together and provide a clearer view of an organisation’s position.

A more connected view

Treasury decisions rarely sit within a single area. Liquidity depends on cash, investments and available facilities. Borrowing decisions may affect interest exposure, refinancing, security and covenant headroom.

The vision is to make those relationships easier to see rather than requiring treasury teams to assemble the picture repeatedly from disconnected sources.

Integration rather than fragmentation

Connecting information without losing clarity.

Integration should not mean making treasury systems more complex. The purpose of bringing information together is to make it more useful, more visible and easier to understand.

Housing Treasury will therefore be developed with a focus on practical integration, clear outputs and the ability to understand where information comes from and how it is being used.

Developed in stages

The wider vision will not be delivered all at once. Housing Treasury Services is taking a staged approach, beginning with focused reporting, information and practical treasury tools.

Capabilities can then develop as the service grows, practical needs become clearer and there is a sound basis for adding further functionality.

Technology that remains useful

Technology should support treasury work rather than determine how every organisation must operate.

Housing associations differ in size, structure, systems and internal resources. The long-term platform should therefore remain focused on practical usefulness while allowing for those differences.

The direction

The long-term direction is a housing-focused treasury environment where information can move more effectively between reporting, analysis, calculations and treasury processes.

As Housing Treasury develops, the distinction between what is available, what is in development and what is planned will remain important. New capabilities should be introduced because they provide genuine value to housing treasury teams, not simply because they are technically possible.

Our vision

Connected, practical and built around housing treasury.

Housing Treasury Services aims to develop Housing Treasury progressively: bringing together the information and tools that matter while keeping clarity, practical value and the needs of housing associations at the centre.
